Hami Ptero 2026 First Circular

The 10th International Pterosaur Conference will be held from September 11th to 14th, 2026, in Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. The conference is hosted by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IVPP), the Hami Municipal People's Government, and the Chinese Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. It is organized by the Hami Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism, the Hami Academy of Cultural Heritage, and the Hami Museum. Co-organizers include the Yizhou District Museum of Hami City, the Balikun County Kazakh Folk Museum, the Yiwu County Museum, the Hami Cultural Tourism Investment Group Co., Ltd., the Xinjiang Hami Pterosaur-Yardang National Geopark, and the Fantawild Group.

The International Pterosaur Conference will be held concurrently with the 18th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. We warmly welcome colleagues and researchers working on pterosaurs to present their latest achievements in the field and to join us at the conference. We extend the invitation to scholars from all related fields—encompassing vertebrate paleontology, paleoanthropology, archaeology, stratigraphy, Quaternary geology, and geochronology—to also join us at the Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. Share your research and help drive our disciplines forward.

I. Conference Schedule

· September 11th: Registration (Full day).

· September 12th: Conference Opening Ceremony, Plenary Lectures, Parallel Sessions.

· September 13th: Mid-conference Excursion: Field trip to the Pterosaur-Yardang National Geopark and the Hami Pterosaur Museum.

· September 14th: Parallel Sessions, Closing Ceremony.

· September 15th - 17th: Post-conference Excursions.

II. Conference Themes

The conference will feature plenary lectures, thematic parallel session presentations, and poster sessions. Parallel session topics will be organized based on participant numbers and presentation abstracts. Presentations in parallel sessions will be 20 minutes. Posters should be presented in standard roll-up banner format. Contributions to all topics concerning pterosaur research are welcome, such as:

· Systematics and phylogeny

· Paleobiology

· Morphometrics

· Soft tissue

· New discoveries

III. Call for abstracts

The abstracts for the 10th International Pterosaur Conference can be submitted from 10 March and to 30 June 2026. Contributions are invited for both oral and poster presentations addressing any of the conference themes. All abstracts will be evaluated by a review committee and, depending on the final number of submissions, will be organized into thematic sessions. Please note that the submission of an abstract does not guarantee acceptance, and the Scientific Committee reserves the right to assign the final presentation format (oral or poster). Key Requirements

Title: Maximum 20 words.

Abstract: Minimum 250, maximum 500 words, without any figures and tables.

Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords.

Presentation types: Oral or Poster.

Authors: Include all contributing authors. Email, Institution/Organization are required; ORCID, City, Country, and mobile phone number are optional

IV. Post-Conference Excursions

· [Route 1: The Asian continent geographical center – Triassic to Jurassic sections and fossil sites in Haojiagou – Jurassic and Cretaceous sections and fossil sites in Liuhuanggou – fossil sites in Huoshaoshan and Wucaiwan]

V. Conference Fees

· Registration Fee: USD 200 (USD 150 for students).

· Participants are responsible for their own round-trip travel expenses, accommodation costs, and post-conference excursion fees. The cost of the post-conference excursions will be determined in the second circular based on the number of participants.

VI. Conference Venue

· Conference Hotel: Hamin Hotel (哈密宾馆).

· Accommodation rates at the Hamin Hotel: Building 1: 458 RMB per room; Building 6: 340 RMB per room. Queen rooms and twin rooms are priced the same.
