Research Interests

Deng Tao’s research focuses on the late Cenozoic mammals, terrestrial stratigraphy, and environmental changes. He provided abundant evidence to interpret the strong uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and its great influence to the biological evolution, and demonstrated the origin of the Ice Age mammals in the high-altitude Tibetan Plateau, thus proposing the Out of Tibet hypothesis.
